Appeals Workshops

Guide to Appeals (text)

Semester Two results have now been published, and we hope all of your hard work has paid off.

However, if your results weren't as you'd expected there are some circumstances where you may be able to submit an appeal. Students can appeal Examination Board decisions (as well as Extenuating Circumstances Panel decisions and Academic Misconduct decisions) as long as there is evidence that was not available to the Board, but if it had been it would have been likely to have changed their decision.

The Students' Union is here to guide you through every step of the Appeals Process, through a series of Appeals Workshops being held on both Southwark and Havering campuses.

These Appeals Workshops will cover:

  • What an appeal is.
  • If you are eligible to appeal, including the terms and conditions e.g. any extenuating circumstances - a situation that is out of your control.
  • Reasons why you should submit an appeal and how appealing can benefit you.
  • The evidence required to submit an appeal.
  • How you can submit an appeal.

The workshops will be held on the following dates and times at Southwark:

  • Monday 13th July, 11 am in T209
  • Wednesday 15th July, 3 pm in T209
  • Friday 17th July, 11 am in T209
  • Monday 20th July, 11 am in T209
  • Wednesday 22nd July, 3 pm in T209
  • Friday 24th July, 11 am in T209

Workshops will also be held at the Havering campus:

  • Tuesday 16th July, 10 am in HW104
  • Tuesday 23rd July, 10 am in HW104

Places are limited at each workshop, so please call the Students' Union Reception on 020 7815 6060 to book your place at a workshop. If you're unable to make a workshop, but would still like some advice on appeals or any other academic issue, please call us and we will endeavour to make an alternative appointment.

You can also find out a huge variety of information about appeals and other academic issues on our website.

The deadline for making an Appeal is the 24th July at midnight.
