Course Rep of the Month - February 19

Congratulations to Catherine Edwards, Course Rep for BSc (Hons) Economics with HR who was chosen by the Students' Union to be the February winner of Course Rep of the Month as she has been doing an outstanding job. Her nominations read that:

"Having put so much work in finding out about students opinions throughout first module, assisting and helping students learn what other services are available in the university."

"Because she helped voice my concerns about a couple of my classes last semester and helped me study."

"I represented my other course views and student views last year. Most issues were resolved ie the smelly toilet next to the computer room which was identified as a big issue and university were aware and by opening that new entrance, allowed fresh air which in return has made it pleasant and I can say no longer smelly."

"Many foreign exchange students find difficulty in fitting in within a new society. Being a foreign exchange student myself, I hoped to meet people like Catherine. My transition into life at LSBU has been augmented thanks largely to Catherine. Her student outreach and acceptance of others is exceptional. Catherine reached out to me and introduced me to life at LSBU, what to expect of my modules at LSBU, and where to seek guidance when needed. She even offered me her own time if I ever need it. She engages her peers in intellectual colloquies and debates and fosters a welcoming and understanding environment for everyone to participate and learn. I believe Catherine encompasses what it takes to be a leader and even more so, exemplifies those skills in her every interaction with others. From my interactions with Catherine, I do not simple believe she deserves to be 'Course Rep of the Month,' but rather, 'of the Year.' "

"Katie is always asking us for feedback and trying to engage everyone on the course."

"Very motivated, approachable and dedicated. Has helped myself improve on being a better course rep for the new semester."

"She reminded us of the activities we got on that month and she would ask for our concerns and suggestions we had on our course."

"Always asking for feedback and keeping everyone in class up to date and feel like they belong"

The SU created this reward in order to recognise all the thousands of hours of volunteering that Course Reps do representing the academic interests of students from their course. We wanted to find a way to make the Reps feel great, and for staff and students to hear about all the awesome things they are doing.

Anyone can nominate a Rep for Course Rep of the Month, staff and students alike, and it's a very quick and easy form which can be found here.

Even if your nominee doesn't win, they'll still be told that they were nominated and will get to hear the lovely things that were written about them, so keep nominating!
