We also actively take part in the Green Impact scheme. It’s an accreditation run by the NUS to encourage Students’ Unions to act in a more environmentally-friendly way, and last year we received a Silver award.

Save Energy & Water
Turn your thermostat down by 1°C - it could cut your heating bills by 10%!
Don’t leave appliances on standby; this will use 10-60% of the electricity that’s used when it's switched on.
Try energy-saving light bulbs - they last ten times longer than ordinary ones.

More and more items are now able to be recycled and your local council will pick up most items from your home. Make sure you know what your local council recycles. You can even check online (for London, visit recycleforlondon.com). For more info on recycling, click here.
Don’t throw away your unwanted stuff, it might be useful for someone else - try putting it on Freecycle.
Walking, cycling and public transport are all great ways to get around and help reduce polution. Try to avoid taxis and Ubers if you can. Find out more about transport at TFL.gov.uk
