As a Students' Union when we have casual vacancies we like to employ our students to work for us. We offer flexibility and understanding that your main aim in coming to University is to get your qualifications. We advertise all our student staff vacancies below:

 

Event Host

Application Deadline: 31st August 2017

Salary: £9 per hour

Working hours: Zero Hours (minimum of 3 hours per week)

Role Outline: Seen as the 'face of events' you will be in charge of hosting the weekly Pub Quiz and Schools Championship challenges. You will also be required to host other events such as the St. Patricks Day Party, Halloween Party and other one off's.

Type of person we're looking for: We are looking for a charismatic and confident individual who has great stage presence and the ability to hold an audience's attention. They must have great verbal communication and be able to work well in a live environment, thinking on their feet where necessary. They must also be personable and be able to build relationships with attendees encouraging them to return and become repeat customers.

Event Promotions Assistant

Application Deadline: 31st August 2017

Salary: £9 per hour

Working hours: Zero Hours

Role Outline: To assist the promotion of all LSBSU events by informing students about upcoming activities and encouraging them to attend. The role will involve flyering, putting posters up, selling tickets and talking to students and key people in the university to get the word out about events in the aim of growing LSBSU events.

Type of person we're looking for: We are looking for an individual who has great verbal communication and is able to engage with students in a professional and confident manner. They must be self-motivated and able to work as a team or alone with minimal supervision. The person must also have a key interest in events or the Union, taking pride in their work and wanting to enhance the student experience.

Research & Insight Manager

Salary: £28,149 inc LW (start of grade) + generous benefits package | Contract Type: Permanent | Hours: Full Time

We are investing in a new department focussed on 'research' and 'insight', aiming for it to become a transformational backbone to our work. Could you help us become the 'authoritative experts' on the London South Bank University 'student experience' and the lives of our students? We're looking for an enthusiastic, intellectually inquisitive, self-starter, wanting a rewarding role helping to improve the education and life chances of our members.

This post is designed to manage the day to day delivery of the Students’ Union Research & Insight functions at London South Bank Students’ Union (LSBSU). This role will be responsible for embedding a research and insight-led culture across LSBSU, leading on and managing the collection of quantitative and qualitative data from a wide range of sources and methods; producing analysis and recommendations.

Closing date is 31st August, interviews will commence w/c 11th September 2017.

Programme Lead (Representation & Democracy)

Salary: £23,755 inc LW | Contract type: Permanent | Hours: Full time 35hrs/wk

This post is designed to support our ‘Representation & Democracy’ programme, a strategic priority for our Students' Union, and one we're investing in. The post sits at the centre, of our democratic and governance structures; it helps our grassroots activists, campaigners and volunteers, bring about positive change; and it influences higher education policy both locally and nationally.

We're looking for someone to work across a range of projects and programmes: challenging assumptions; enhancing continuously our work, and that of our parent institution, and; empowering our members to get the best individually, and collectively, from their University experience, whether in the classroom or beyond. We also think our work is pretty critical - we are The Widening Participation University, we're hyper diverse in our membership profile and support a lot of students from non-traditional backgrounds, many of whom the first to get a Higher Education in their family.

Academic Advice Worker

Salary: £23,755 inc LW | Contract type: Permanent | Hours: Full time 35hrs/wk

This post is key to supporting the delivery of one of our most key services - Academic Advice. The post works with students day-in day-out to help them navigate their way through the University's academic affairs systems and also with elected representatives to raise the profile of support that is available to students throughout their academic life cycle.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about supporting students to achieve, challenging the status quo, enhancing our Advice Service, and ensuring that our students get the most out of their higher education experience. A Students' Union Advice Service is particularly important in this University - we operate in a Widening Participation University, we have a hyper diverse student body in our membership profile and support a lot of students from non-traditional backgrounds. For many students - they are the first to go to University in their family.
