Volunteering is a fantastic way to enhance your learning experience, give something back to your local comminity and looks great on your CV!

Shelter are currently looking for volunteers to help collect for the charity on Saturday 11th October. Volunteers will need to be available to collect for 3-4 hours inside one of the tube stations listed below, and then return to the Students' Union to drop the money off so it can be stored securely.
The money raised from the colletions would go towards our work helping homeless and badly housed people across the UK. Bad Housing Wrecks Lives. We are the fourth richest country in the world, and yet millions of people in Britain wake up every day in housing that is run-down, overcrowded or dangerous. Many others have lost their home altogether. Bad housing robs us of security, health, and a fair chance in life.
You will be supplied with t-shirts, badges, stickers and collection buckets, and your help will be greatly appreciated.

On the 11th October 2008, to mark World Mental Health Day, CoolTan Arts is doing a sponsored walk from the Maudsley Hospital, Denmark Hill, to the Tate Modern. They are currently recruiting walkers to sign up and take part.
The walk will be friendly and fun. There will be poetry in the parks, a rest room on the 7th floor of the Tate Modern, and the procession will be lead by David Morris - Disability Advisor to the Mayor. As well as being a great, healthy activity, the sponsored walk will challenge stigma associated with mental illness and celebrate the power of creativity. The walk is approximately 6 miles and is suitable for people with disabilities.
There is a minimum sponsorship of £5 (benefits) or £50 (waged). You are advised to wear sensible shoes and bring along food/snacks/drinks with you. The money raised will go towards helping CoolTan Arts continue to run workshops, and reach even more people with their services.
To get a registration form click here, or come into the Welafe and Campaigns office to pick one up. To find out more about CoolTan Arts, click here.
