STUDENT REPRESENTATION OFFICERS (SROs)

What's an SRO?

SRO stands for Student Representation Officer. They act as the voice of one of 5 liberation groups. Currently the 5 positions available are:

  • International Students' Officer
  • Mature Students' Officer
  • Disabled Students' Officer
  • LGBT Officer
  • Equality and Diversity Officer

Why should I stand for nomination?

Students from liberation groups need a voice. For those students who make up a minority group, this voice is even more essential, to ensure that the Union and the University takes their needs and wishes into account.

A SRO speaks on behalf of all students who associate themselves within their elected group. They utilise their elected position in order to bring minority issues to the fore, and to use their position on Council to enact change and reform.
