I’m Shakira Ali and I’m the vice president for LSBU students at Essex and east London. My role is solely beneficial to the students at Havering and Whipps Cross. I’m responsible for representing the EEL students at every SCN committee meeting, Co-ordinating academic and social events like the fresher's fair and the summer ball, counselling, and help with their CV for work purposes.
Since our election it has been clear that there is a wide gap between the Southwark and EEL campuses and I intend, with the help of my fellow sabbaticals and the students to bridge this gap and ensure that the students at the EEL campus get the same student experience and attention as their peers in Southwark. In order to perform this task I would need to develop a strong communication link between both campuses and ensure that the best opportunities are provided for the Health Students.
If you have any suggestions as to how we can tackle this gap please feel free to voice your opinion. I operate an open door policy so come on in and have a chat!!! I also endeavour to answer any suggestions or queries by email (vphwc@lsbu.ac.uk) or call me on ext 4738. My office is located at the Harold wood campus (Room 101) so if you want some impartial advice or just want a chat please feel free to pop in!
See you soon
Ps. keep a look out for EEL campaigns and events throughout the year.
